Description

Filleigh Village Hall has been awarded HALLMARK *** by The Community Council of Devon. It was newly built and opened in 1997, with a new extension (The Weston Room), completed in the summer of 2020. It is set in the heart of rural North Devon, between Barnstaple and South Molton, not far from the A361 and access to the M5. The hall is beside the Primary School and surrounded by a large tarmac car park with room for coach parking. There are views over lovely countryside and it is within the glorious Grade 1 listed, private estate of Castle Hill.
The building is light and airy with wheelchair access throughout, a disabled toilet and baby changing unit. It is heated by an underfloor system and Wi-fi is available throughout.
The entrance foyer gives access to the Main hall and a smaller Meeting/club room. The hall is spacious, and has double doors opening onto a covered patio area with picnic tables. The semi-sprung floor makes it suitable for dances, also wedding receptions, private parties, conferences and badminton. Along one side of the hall, the Gallery provides an extra seating area which can be curtained off to provide a changing place for plays and other productions. This area is equipped with a glasswasher and bottle chillers for a bar if required. There are tables (round & rectangular), chairs, blackout curtains, a flexible, modular stage, and fixed projector screens in the rooms.
The smaller meeting room is also accessed from the foyer, with multifold doors into the main hall. It is good for small groups up to 20.
Both these rooms have separate access and servery hatches to the large well-appointed kitchen which has 3 free-standing electric stoves, a large commercial dishwasher, and parking adjacent to enable easy offloading of catering equipment, food etc. China, cutlery and glassware for 200 covers is provided
The new Weston Room can be hired independently, or used as an adjunct to the main hall, again there are multifold doors that link the rooms. It has separate outside access, kitchenette and toilet and is ideal for events such as training sessions ( say 15-25 delegates), craft workshops and skittles
