Training Hub Benefits & Money Advice Benefits and Work Course Description Employment in the South West is around 78% with the average number of hours worked being 31 per week. The average part-time wage is around £150 per week (20 hours at the minimum wage). Many people are in and out of work, some with fixed term contracts, others with zero hours contracts, many with low pay. People in and out of work with fluctuating work need to know how benefits work with this. Come and find out so that the people you support can find out too. This course is for people who provide advice and support to people of working age who are either working or considering work and who need to know how work will affect their entitlement to benefits. It covers benefits for ‘job seekers’ as well as for people with disabilities who may or may not have limited capability for work. Course Aims & Objectives The course will enable participants to: Identify benefits available to people who are in-work Advise on how work affects all benefits, including Universal Credit Enable claimants to make informed decisions in relation to taking work. About Your Tutor Vincent has worked for the Citizens Advice service in Devon since 1985. As an experienced trainer, he has provided benefits training for many years to voluntary and statutory sector staff, covering all aspects of the benefits system from introductory courses to Tribunal Representation. He has been a benefits caseworker throughout his working life, having taken cases up to the Upper Tribunal level. He continues to work as a benefits caseworker, providing advice and assistance to families with children with disabilities and to young people with disabilities. He also provides benefits advice as part of the Devon Advice Service for Working Age Carers and is the Chief Officer at Citizens Advice Teignbridge.
