160 residents from Postbridge are celebrating the approval of their stage one application by the Big Lottery, Reaching Communities Fund and have been invited to submit a stage 2 application.

Postbridge Village Hall is a well-loved and used facility which is the genuine ‘heart of the community’ for this extremely remote area. It provides for a wide range of local needs, functions, and activities and draws people from all over Dartmoor and beyond. Their ambition is to secure sufficient funding to extend and improve this valuable asset in order that it may be enjoyed by both the present and future generations.

Since 2006 the small local community have been steadily working towards making this vision a reality (and by degrees) have raised (through local fundraising, grants and donations) and invested around £30,000 into improving the Hall and car park. Moreover, hundreds of hours of voluntary labour have been given to date.

The community are delighted to have achieved this milestone, taking them one step closer towards realising their vision
for modernising and expanding the hall. It is estimated that a figure of around £200,000 (including VAT and contingency) is required to complete the proposed project.
