The Rural Futures Housing Conference organised by Dartington Parish Council, Dartington Hall Trust and Transition Town Totnes attracted over 200 delegates on the 6th & 7th February at Dartington Hall.

Representatives from Neighbourhood Planning Groups from the West Country and beyond were joined by architects, planners and other specialists in the housing sector to listen to presentations on Place-making, Community Land Trusts, Self Builds, Eco Villages and the Neighbourhood Planning experience itself.

Delegates also participated in world café style table conversations in what was described as an ‘unusually energetic and very inspiring’ conference.

Speakers and discussions focused around issues of Housing and Community Building and the Neighbourhood Planning challenges and aspirations. Presentations were given by, amongst others, Bob Tomlinson of The Living Village Trust, Erica Lewis from the Land Society and Rob Hopkins of Transition Network.
