LOVE Devon fundraising event 2018: Walk for Widecombe
We've done it!
Thanks to everyone who took part in Walk for Widecombe on Sunday. Despite some tricky weather conditions around 100 walkers succeeded in completing the route and we'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported this event.
The crowdfunder site is still available to anyone yet to make a donation, or who is still collecting those last little bits of sponsorship money. You can also donate by cheque - please make cheques payable to: Devon Communities Together and either bring it along on the day or post it to: Walk for Widecombe, Devon Communities Together, 3&4 Cranmere Court, Lustleigh Close, Matford Business Park, Exeter EX2 8PW.
Entries now closed!
Join us on Sunday 16th September for 6 or 2 mile sponsored walk into the iconic Dartmoor village, where there will be a host of fun family activities to welcome the walkers, riders and their families. Funds raised by the walkers will go towards the Widecombe-in-the-Moor village hall project, which is aiming to build a brand new village hall to benefit the entire village community and beyond.
The people of Widecombe-in-the-Moor welcome 1000s of tourists over the summer but when the last of the visitors have gone they leave behind a community of people who are in real need of a new village hall. They're making do at the moment with a hard-to-heat, inaccessible room but a new hall will provide facilities and opportunities within the village for the entire community, helping them to come together and thrive all year round and for generations to come. They've got amazing plans for groups and services from babies to older people but they need help to raise the money to build it. No more freezing cold groups and impossible access for wheelchairs and buggies - let's give back to this community that's welcomed all of us for many-a-summer!
Teams: If you're registering on behalf of a team, please provide one person's contact details and an idea of the number of people you're expecting. We will be in touch nearer the time to confirm final numbers and details.
Horse riders: you are welcome to ride over to Widecombe-in-the-Moor and join in with our family fun day, beginning at 12pm. Please ensure your route is along appropriate bridle paths and common land. Please note that the route is no longer starting at the Frost stables at Holne and we are recommending that people follow their own chosen route.
Making your donations
After you've registered with us you can make your fundraising pledge now on our Crowdfunder website using the Crowdfunder link in the box above or by clicking here: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/walk-for-widecombe. Even if you're not joining the walk but would like to support this fantastic community cause you can also use this page to donate online and show your support. Every little helps! If you would prefer to make your donation by cheque, please make it payable to Devon Communities Together and either bring it along on the day or post it to: Walk for Widecombe, Devon Communities Together, 3&4 Cranmere Court, Lustleigh Close, Matford Business Park, Exeter EX2 8PW. LOVE Devon was established as a way of getting the public involved in raising money for community projects, causes and services in Devon. This is a huge opportunity for us to show what LOVE Devon is all about by bringing individuals and organisations with a passion for Devon together to raise money for an excellent community cause. We also hope to raise lots more awareness for this exciting new project, which aims to provide a wonderful new community building for everyone to enjoy. So if you want to lend your support to the community of Widecombe we’d encourage you to dig out your walking or riding boots and join us! There are also plenty of sponsorship opportunities available for this event and the wider LOVE Devon campaign, so we’d encourage any Devon business which wants to give something back to contact us for more information.
