Many older people are not aware of their potential entitlement to benefits other than their State Pension, and many, therefore, miss out on what can be quite substantial amounts of income. Learning a basic process for identifying when someone might be entitled to additional benefit income can, therefore, lead to a significant improvement in the quality of life for older people. This course will help.

This course provides an overview of benefits for older people and will help participants to identify potential entitlement. It will demonstrate how benefits like Attendance Allowance can enhance entitlement to means-tested benefits.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Use a process to identify potential entitlement to benefits

  • Understand how disability-related benefits can enhance entitlement to means-tested benefits

  • Make appropriate referrals
