COURSE DESCRIPTION

Personal Independence Payment, after Universal Credit, is the benefit Citizens Advice gets more questions about than anything else. It’s a real problem mainly because the claiming process is so difficult and because so many people get turned down when the shouldn’t. With the right information and support, things can change and this course will help you to play a part in making sure people get what they are entitled to.

This course provides an overview of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), as well as details of the disability-related rules and tips on claiming. It also explains how the benefit can increase overall benefit income for families.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • identify key conditions of entitlement to PIP;

  • assist people with claims;

  • identify when and how to challenge decisions

  • make appropriate referrals
