Free online event for the farming community

Published on 20th November 2020

Devon, Somerset and Torbay Trading Standards are holding an online event to promote mental health and wellbeing in the farming community on Tuesday 24th November 2020  at 6pm.

Due to the success and interest in the first webinar held in July we have decided to run a second event.

The ongoing Covid-19 crisis and increasing industry pressures mean that the region’s farmers are under pressure more than ever. This has led to increased incidents of mental illness within the industry.

To recognise this Devon, Somerset and Torbay Trading Standards are working on several projects to help tackle the stigma surrounding mental health and to help publicise the support and guidance available to those who need it.

The event will be online and will feature speakers from Devon And Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, RABI, a GP and to conclude the event a couple of songs from Andrew Sheldon- The Somerset Crooner.

Each organisation will focus on the importance of mental health and wellbeing highlighting what help is available and where to get support.

There will be an opportunity to ask the speakers and Trading Standards Officers questions. The format of the meeting will allow you to do this anonymously if you prefer.

Those unable to attend the online event will have the opportunity to watch it again on the Trading Standards YouTube page the following week.
