Description

South Brent Old School Community Centre was created in 1997 from a former Primary School build in 1876.

The Community Centre comprises four letting spaces:

The Hall has a sprung pine floor and an upright piano. This room measures 9.7 x 6.8m = 66m² and is best suited to functions of up to 100 people, be this birthday parties, choir practice, dancing or a fundraising event. Folding tables and fabric covered chairs can be made available for this space. The Hall also has connecting doors to the Aune Room for extra flexibility.

The Beacon Room has been renovated to accommodate the South Brent Community Library and Archive. It has been designed with a flexible layout so that at certain times this space will be available as a quieter room, with excellent northern light, suitable for meetings or classes of up to 20 people. The room measures 6.2 x 5.3m = 33.5m² and could be laid out in a classroom style to suit.

The Aune Room is a much more flexible space measuring 6.6 x 5.7m = 37.5m². This room is flat-packed with 10 folding tables and 20 chairs and has connecting doors to the Hall. It is ideal for groups of up to 20 people or can be laid out in a conference style for a meeting to accommodate 40 people.

The Study
Formerly the South Brent and District Caring office, the Study has recently been refurbished as an airy small meeting room that could also be used for one-to-one teaching. This room measures 3.68m x 2.79m and so is ideal as a work hub, small conference room, or classroom.

The Centre also hosts a Post Office, South Brent & District Caring, Sustainable South Brent's Sustainability Hub, a weekly Walk & Talk Group, South Brent Community Library and Archive, The Corridor Gallery. Lloyds Mobile Banking Service visits the centre fortnightly and The Share Shed visits the Centre weekly. Refreshment facilities are available in the Servery. Free Public WiFi, a Photocopier and various audio visual equipment is available.

Adjoining the main Centre building is Art House, a venue for art and craft workshops and classes including ceramics, printmaking and painting. Please see the Art House website for more details: arthousesouthbrent.com
