Sarah Newman

Sarah is Devon ‘born and bred’ and has lived in Exeter most of her life. She received a BSc in Sociology, Culture and New Media from the University of Surrey in 2006, which included a professional year in industry working as a research assistant at The Salvation Army's UK headquarters in London, working on projects including homelessness, human trafficking and substance abuse. In 2011 she returned to studying on a distance learning basis alongside her full time job, graduating with an MA in Mass Communications from the University of Leicester in 2013.

Her career began in book editing, working for a UK trade publisher as an assistant editor before making the switch to public relations, managing accounts for a PR and marketing communications agency for almost 10 years across a wide variety of industries including waste management, food and drink, property, technology, accountancy, recycling and the third sector to name a few.

Sarah joined Devon Communities Together in December 2017 and leads on all marketing and communications activities for the charity.
