Princetown Community Grants Fund - FAQs
Common Questions
We know there's a lot to take in, so here are some of the questions that come up most. If yours isn't here, just ask, there's no such thing as a silly question.
Can I apply if my organisation isn't based in Princetown itself?
Yes. There's no strict boundary based on where you're registered or based. What matters is that your project genuinely delivers the fund's aims in Princetown itself, and this is something the panel will look at closely when assessing your application, so it's worth being specific about how your project reaches and benefits the village.
Can I apply again if I'm not successful this time?
Yes. You can apply again in a future round, and we'll offer support and advice to help strengthen your next application. You can only ever receive one award from this fund, but there's no limit on how many times you can try.
Can I apply for more than one project?
If you have more than one good idea, we'd rather you bring them together into a single, stronger application than submit them separately. Get in touch and we can help you think this through.
How long will it take to hear back?
You'll usually hear the outcome within a week of the panel meeting that reviews your application. Panels meet monthly, so the exact timing depends on when in the cycle you apply, the guidance document has the full schedule.
Who decides whether my application is successful?
A panel made up of a mix of Duchy of Cornwall, Devon Communities Together and community representation reviews and scores every application against the fund's published criteria.
What happens if my application isn't successful?
We'll let you know and explain why, and where it's helpful, we'll talk through whether there's a better fit for your idea, or what might strengthen a future application.
Do I need to have all my policies in place before I apply?
Not having every policy in place (safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety, and so on) won't automatically disqualify you. If you're missing something, just talk to us, we're happy to support you through it rather than turn you away.
What if my project costs more than I'm asking for?
That's fine, plenty of projects are funded from more than one source. Just let us know what else you're applying for or have already secured, and how you'll cover the difference.
I've never applied for funding before, is this still for me?
Yes, genuinely. New and small groups are very welcome, and our team is here to help at every step, from shaping your first idea through to submitting the form. We're regularly on the ground in Princetown, typically on Wednesdays, as well as available by phone and email, so there's always a way to reach us that suits you.
Can organisations who've received funding from DCT or the Duchy before apply?
Yes. This is a new fund, so having received funding from us in the past doesn't affect your eligibility now.
How long do I have to apply?
Large Grants close on 15th December 2026. Small Grants run on a rolling monthly basis and close on 28th February 2027, so it's worth applying as soon as you're ready rather than waiting.
How long does the fund itself run for, beyond the application deadlines?
The wider programme, including delivery and reporting from funded projects, runs until December 2027.
